One for the Record Books

We're in for a truly special weekend. After reading the following, you'll wish you could be in four or more places at once.

The Birmingham Fine Arts Festival is Saturday and Sunday. Works by 220 artists will fill Shain Park in downtown Birmingham.  The event is part of what's shaping up to be the world's largest gallery crawl, Art Detroit Now. In case you missed the GreatStuff special edition, click here and get caught up.

If you want to hear some of the finest country music around, head to Hart Plaza in Detroit for the 2008 Downtown Hoedown Friday through Sunday. It's in the record books as the largest free country music festival in the world. This year's stars include Gretchen Wilson, Josh Gracin and Trisha Yearwood.

Sports fans will enjoy seeing the Detroit Red Wings drop the puck with the Dallas Stars in the NHL Western Conference Finals, beginning tonight and Saturday at Joe Louis Arena. The Detroit Pistons continue battling the Orlando Magic. If needed, Game 5 will be Tuesday in The Palace of Auburn Hills.

And last -- and never, ever, ever, ever least -- remember Sunday is Mother's Day.
